4th IoT Security Conference

ENISA, Europol and CERT-EU are co-organising a series of webinars to raise awareness on the security  of the Internet of Things (IoT). The conference aims to enable a broad discussion by bringing together experts from cybercrime units, CSIRTs, international organisations, private industry, regulatory agencies, and academia.

Each webinar will have an approximate duration of  1.5 hours and will open with a keynote speech followed by a panel discussion. Participants will have the opportunity to interact with the panel and ask questions on the discussion topics through a web conferencing tool.

Session 3: Supply Chain for IoT

IoT supply chains face a broad range of threats, ranging from physical to digital threats, and as a result of the enhanced digitalisation of contemporary society, organisations are more dependent than ever on third parties. IoT supply chain risks are associated with an organisation’s decreased visibility on the way the technology they acquire is developed, integrated, and deployed.

Especially for IoT, it is a common practice for developers to consume third-party components. However, these third-party components are often treated as black boxes and are less scrutinized than internally developed components. Establishing secure supply chains to limit risks, across the IoT ecosystem, is a fundamental building block for IoT security. Security is essential and must foremost be ensured for all the phases of the lifecycle of the IoT supply chain. The complex and diverse nature of IoT requires finding security solutions to smaller simplified problems to approach the bigger picture of IoT security.

This webinar aims to enable a broad discussion on IoT supply chain, focusing on the different phases, from product development to product consumption as well as on relevant threats, risks and mitigation techniques.
