After being a Seconded National Expert to ENISA for one year in 2006, I've become fully dedicated to work for Europe full time. Since joining in 2008 I have written or edited many reports in the field of cyber security, notably on data breach notifications, supply chain integrity and electronic identities.
I appreciate ENISA for the opportunities it creates for collaboration with European and national administration as well as with big private companies at international level. I also enjoy the opportunities to socialise with the multi-national staff.
Privately, I take particular pleasure in the nature and scenery in Greece, which allow me to pursue my hobbies - mountain trekking and diving.
I joined ENISA in 2007. Having previously worked for the EMEA agency based in London I was happy to continue to be working within the European Agencies.I have enjoyed the challenges that ENISA has to offer in terms of professional development.
I particularly like working with colleagues from other European Member States, the diversity of languages and learning about different cultures and traditions. I have grown to love the island of Crete and its friendly and welcoming people. Three things I enjoy most working at the Agency? Knowledgeable and friendly colleagues, the local people, nature and food of Crete, and the knowledge that all together we make a difference.
Irma, Assistant to the Head of Operations Department, of Dutch origin.
I joined ENISA in 2005, in its early days, after having worked in The Hague, Zurich and Brussels. In general I like new challenges and opportunities to extend my knowledge.
I had since long loved Greece because of the beautiful nature, climate, music and dances, so moving here was an easy decision for me. So far, it has been a very exciting journey to follow the Agency’s developments. Firstly I was working in Crete, and now I am based in Athens. Working for a Head of Department has given me a great overview of all the topical issues related to cyber security, and a professional opportunity to use my organisational and language skills. Since I have always been passionate about European integration, it is a real privilege for me to be able to contribute to this process by working for ENISA. I enjoy the international atmosphere at work and the opportunities to spend my life in this beautiful country.
I joined the ENISA in 2013 in the unit Secure infrastructure and services. I am security and resilience of communication Networks Officer and I work to foster security and resilience of European communications networks with particular focus to Critical Information Infrastructures and Internet infrastructure.
This job perfectly fits my academic background and previous experience: I hold a MSc in in Cybersecurity at Tallinn University of Technology, in the past I participated in the ICANN and IETF and I was the intranet manager of a major financial group in Italy for 9 years coordinating an internal network of over 6,000 employees.
My goal is to help EU institutions, Member States and Telco operators to secure Europe's information society. I travel a lot between Member States and I try to engage all interested actors in order to make the communications of all European citizens more resilient and secure. Before living in Athens, I have lived in Italy, Tallinn, Berlin and Chicago and definitely Athens is one of the best cities I have been for quality of life.
I am a computer scientist by training and worked on privacy in electronic networks for several years.
In 2011, I had the opportunity to make an internship at ENISA for 6 months. I soon realised that the Agency is a splendid place to work for a person with expertise in security technologies and interest for their impact on society. A few years later, I eagerly applied for a vacant position at ENISA, and I was privileged to be selected. Soon, I'll have been here already for a year.
I keep enjoying working in Greece together with people from all over Europe, in different languages, and learning every day, as we cover many varying cyber security areas.
The nice and friendly atmosphere and the multicultural environment of an EU-body, are two of the characteristics I like most about working at ENISA.
Working as ICT Solutions Architect in this environment is demanding but multi-facetted and very exciting. It allows me to develop professionally, interact with colleagues from all over Europe and face ever-changing challenges. And Crete is a really nice place to live!
