The subject of this contract is based on the ENISA Work Programme 2016 - “WPK1.3-D3: Study on security aspects of virtualization”. Virtualization has made a huge impact in a very short time, the use of virtualization technologies comes with different benefits such as agility, flexibility and cost efficiency. At the same time the introduction of virtualization also introduces new challenges and threats. The overall focus of this study is the identification of the current status of virtualization with a special consideration in the security aspects, this will help to set the research priorities for future calls for proposals or in the context of policy initiatives launched or about to be launched by the Commission in this particular area.
