8th ExpoSec 2009

ENISA Head of Administration, Dr. Andreas Mitrakas, will present at the 8th ExpoSec 2009 in Athens, Greece. The first international event of its kind in Greece, ExpoSec is an annual Security Conference and Exhibition staged in Athens since 2002, aiming to examine the most recent views, findings and technologies regarding security and safety issues. Dr. Mitrakas will participate in a session labeled Emerging Standards & Legal Requirements where he will provide an overview of EU legislation and ongoing European standardisation activities that are relevant for information security.

Microsoft Growth and Innovation Day

ENISA’s Information Security Risk Management Expert Barbara Daskala is participating in a panel discussion on ‘Building a culture of trust online’ at the Microsoft ‘Growth and Innovation Day’, taking place in Brussels, 5 March. Outline of the session: Personal data and privacy concerns about online risks threaten to erode public confidence in the computing ecosystem. The panel will look into challenges of authentication, identity, privacy enhancing technologies, privacy practices and potential transaction costs when privacy is traded off for service value. ‘Why is it so difficult to help people to protect themselves? How can we achieve more security and more privacy instead of trading one for the other?’ are some questions to be discussed by the panel.

4th ETSI Security Workshop

ENISA Expert Mr. Slawomir Gorniak, will give a keynote speech at the 4th ETSI Security Workshop in Sophia Antipolis, France. This event is an annual international security standardisation workshop, bringing together international Standards Developing Organisations (SDOs) and security experts to discuss recent developments, share knowledge, identify gaps and co-ordinate on future actions and work areas. Mr. Gorniak will speak on ENISA activities in Information Security.

InfoProtect Summit 2009

Mr. Daniele Catteddu, Expert in Risk Management, will give a presentation at the InfoProtect Summit 2009. ENISA is preparing a report on the key Cloud Security risks and ways of addressing them with the help of a group of technical and legal experts including many major "cloud providers". In his talk, entitled "Security in Cloud Computing – the ENISA perspective", he will brief the audience about the risks and how to address them.
